There was some subplot about a case they were working on together, a rivalry to become a partner at the company they worked for and some short chapters about her ex partner which was a total douchebag.These books just get better and better, and the more I read, the more the ones I already read are growing on me! I had a great time with this one! I am convinced that no one can write banter like Elizabeth O’Rourke. Gemma and Ben are work frenemies, and they live to dig at each other. During meetings, passing each other in the break room, you name it, they’re exhausting everyone with their jabs. As for me, I lived for it. This also had enemies with benefits vibes which is usually not my favorite thing but I enjoyed it here. He hit a guy who assaulted her, and got arrested for it knowing he is a lawyer and it could destroy his reputation.
