The book moved at a snail’s pace (I felt like I was traveling on a glacier to get to the resolution).

Her team is not an easy one to manage with two young, eager detectives and one old lazy one, who was a friend of her husband and is now mostly seeing out his time until he can retire, but somehow she gets the best out of them and has a great record of solving cases. After successful completion, another handgun is found, and with the Tactical Team having already left, Hillary passes the weapon to Sgt Frank Ross to be logged into evidence. DS Ross is one of those characters, who made me want to poke him in the eyes with a sharp stick before slapping him across the face with a wet flip flop and a wet fish. Can Hillary find the murderer and survive a brush with one of Oxford's most dangerous criminals at the same time?

Whilst I have enjoyed the previous three books in the series, I felt there was a greater maturity to this one that indicates Faith Martin's growing confidence in her characters and their stories. They’re trapped in a hilarious off-the-cuff mystery so fiendish, only a genius could work out whodunnit. As Nancy delves into the mystery in her own family, the village of Dedley End is rocked by the appearance of Sebastian Holmes, recently released from a long stretch in prison for his part in a jewellery robbery in London. A good friend and ally for Hillary in her recent tribulations, he's determined to keep his best investigator focused on the problems at hand.

Absolutely fantastic… An addictive perfect mix of mystery, crime, suspense and quirkiness which kept me turning the pages late at night!
