About this deal

When I tested the Structure 23 last year, I was astonished how different it was to previous Structures which were firm and stiff. The 23 felt much more cushioned and much more flexible; I liked the new direction that the Structure had gone in. It was a Nike classic, reimagined. Stability: A-[Stable Neutral But Really Mild/Moderate Stability] (Noticeable medial resistance from long lateral crash pad, firmer ride and lateral guidance lines)

However, the upper is a disappointment because the other elements of this shoe made the flywire ineffective. Nike Zoom Structure 22 Conclusions In all my years, I have never ran in a pair of Nikes. Nike isn’t the first brand I associate with running. So when given the chance to review a pair I decided it was time. They still give that support, but the comfort quotient just gets better and better. The performance of these shoes and the fact that Nike develops all their foams in the house has me believing in Nike again. Upper - no one does it better than Nike There was a time when the Structure consisted of a tri-density midsole. It changed to a dual-density midsole in the Structure 20, 21 and 22. Now, it consists of a single-density midsole.Kulmala, J. P., Kosonen, J., Nurminen, J., & Avela, J. (2018). Running in highly cushioned shoes increases leg stiffness and amplifies impact loading. Scientific Reports , 8 (1), 1-7. The secrets to how the Nike React Infinity Run can reduce the risk of running-related injuries are the: If you already have the Structure 23, the Structure 24 is a version that you can skip. If you don’t have the Structure 23, the two versions are so similar that you can save money and get the 23 instead of the 24. Version 23 is lighter and has exactly the same ride as version 24. This was such a pleasant surprise for me. Nike uses a dual-density midsole with Phylon and Cushlon materials to create what they call Dynamic Support. The Structure 24’s upper is reminiscent of one found on a max-cushioned trainer and is on par with the Vomero 16 in terms of comfort. I feel that the padding is slightly excessive and that a lot of weight could be shed if it was more minimal.

Forget everything you previously knew about the Structure series because the Structure 23 is unlike any other Structure shoe to date. There is no unnecessary padding, and the upper has a tailored feel to it. The material also has proven to be breathable while maintaining durability. Performance: B- ( Firmer ride that feels heavier than the listed weight, ie a bit clunky. Solid bevel and transition, but best for recovery and easy runs. Better for those who land farther forward and does break in with time) If you loved the Lunarglide series, the Structure 23 also has shades of the Lunarglide (8 & 9) although the Structure 23 is much more cushioned and has a lot more outsole rubber. The Structure 23 is the Structure series reimagined and I really like the direction that Nike has gone with it. The React Infinity Run weighs 9.5oz (270g) for a men’s US size 9, and they have a drop of 9mm from heel to toe. On the positive side, the Zoom Structure was a very visually appealing shoe. It has more of a casual, everyday look to it and is filled with bright and vibrant colors. Nike certainly knows how to design an eye catching shoe. Pssst, have you heard about Nike’s React Infinity Run FlyKnit running shoes yet? Well, you have now but did you know Nike designed them specifically to help reduce the risk of running-related injuries for runners who train for half marathons. However, the Zoom Structures were average, at best. Yes, I was able to log my miles, but the sole unit was too firm and the upper too washy.

React Infinity Run key design features (upper material, midsole, outsole, width, weight, heel-to-toe drop, etc) I love my Structure 23’s for long weekend runs. It serves the same purpose as my Triumph 18’s and my Floatride Run 2.0’s. It’s not nearly as responsive but it beats both of them when it comes to outsole durability. When I say breathable, I run in sunny Las Vegas, and I’m telling you, the uppers ventilate nicely on those sweaty runs. Soles that politely grip the road DPT/Footwear Science: B+ ( Solid stability design, but some claims regarding cushioning that are not supported by evidence and feel of the rearfoot midsole) Fit: A- (slightly wider fit, particularly in the toebox, but remains secure. Comfortable, well-padded upper )The highly flexible forefoot results in less snappy, more relaxed ride transitions. The Structure 23 flexes behind the airbag, towards the middle of the sole. The structure uses a multi-thread that gives grip but still lets you rip. The treads don’t have aggressive lugs that get in the way of the road. The result is a more consistent ride than the Pegasus and Vomero because CMP 010 foam surrounds the airbag in the forefoot whereas the forefoot of the Pegasus/Vomero feels much firmer than the rearfoot so the ride feels inconsistent.

The Structure 19 and the Structures before the 19 had prominent medial posts and a “poking in the arch” sensation which made it unbearable for many neutral runners and even some overpronators to wear. This was an effective change as I noticed how my feet were landing on my stride. The wider than average toebox gives you ample room to spread out.

For The Flat-Footed Runner

I stopped and retie my shoes thinking it was the laces being loose. I took off again but the heel was still loose and my midfoot hurt because the shoes were tied too tight. The word that describes the ride of the Structure 24 best is “balanced”. It feels well-cushioned without being mushy or firm and it falls into the same category as shoes like the ASICS Cumulus, Brooks Ghost and Hoka Clifton– versatile trainers that can fill the role of 2 or 3 shoes in your rotation. Your foot sits inside the midsole and there are lateral side rails which keep your foot centred through transitions.
